Mother's Day in DC to honor women in war zones

The American War is not over in Iraq or Afghanistan and won't until our troops are home and safe. Without pressure, it could be more years than we now imagine before the wars are over. That means it's still time to stand for peace.

"Arise then...women of this day!
Arise, all women who have hearts!
From
the bosom of a devastated Earth a voice goes up with Our own. It
says: Disarm! Disarm!

Mother's Day Vigil, Washington, D.C. -- May 9-10, 2009 (Save the
date!) 1pm-1pm

This Mother's Day, we are delighted to announce our 2nd 24-hour
vigil in front of the White House, where we will honor all mothers
and women who live where war is happening where women are paying
the price with their bodies, loved ones, homes, future. We want
to recognize the price they pay and honor their courage and power,
and stand with them in solidarity to not only tell their important
stories but to model what women-centered community looks and acts
like. We want to encourage other organizations and community groups
around the country and the world to bring their stories and their
sisters to DC to celebrate Julia Ward
Howe's original call for Mother's Day
.
