Tropical forests absorb 5 bn tonnes of CO2 emissions yearly


London (IANS): Tropical rain forests are absorbing nearly five billion tonnes of carbon-dioxide from the air, released yearly by burning fossil fuels.


This includes a previously unknown carbon sink in Africa, mopping up 1.2 billion tonnes of CO2 each year, according to the latest research.
