Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo; February 2, 1848
In light of Arizona pending police action against citizens of Mexico in the US (Arizona), Could or should Mexico give notice that it wants to renegotiate the treaty that made California, Arizona, and New Mexico part of the United States?
ARTICLE XVII
... it being understood that each of the contracting parties reserves to itself the right, at any time after the said period of eight years shall have expired, to terminate the same by giving one year's notice of such intention to the other party.
