CHAKA KHAN / FREEDOM
Chaka Khan via Google+
1 month agoHey Darlings, I know the world seems really crazy now with deaths of Eric Garner, Michael Brown, and Robin Williams along with conflicts around the globe. None of us are free until we're ALL free from oppression, discrimination, poverty & violence.

Human resistance to malaria varies depending on location, study finds - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)
Humans have evolved different defences against malaria depending on where they live, scientists have found.
About half the world's population is exposed to the disease, which kills more than 500,000 people each year.
A study, conducted over 10 years across 11 countries, looked for specific mutations known as markers in genes that result in resistance against malaria in almost 12,000 people.
Laboratory head at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute in Melbourne, Dr Ivo Mueller, said the study found there is a close evolutionary interplay between malaria and human populations.
"It is a complex interaction between the parasite and the human genome," he said.
"Part of this study was done in Papua New Guinea, but most of these mutations that we found are actually not found in Papua New Guinea because people there never acquired these mutations.

In defiance of Spain, Catalonia calls secession vote | News | DW.DE | 27.09.2014
Catalan President Artur Mas on Saturday signed a formal decree calling for a referendum to be held on November 9, to ask Catalonians whether their region should break from Spain.
The powerful and wealthy northeastern region has a long-standing movement for independence, which has gained momentum in recent years due to Spain's struggling economy.
However, the Spanish government insists the planned referendum is illegal. It is expected to call an emergency cabinet meeting in the next days to launch an appeal to the country's constitutional court, aimed at blocking the vote.

Dreaming for some justice, mercy and progress... Only Black-American NFL players abuse women and children? No excuse for what they may have done and the courts will determine guilt and punishment. How many others should be investigated? Why aren't white newscasters seeking out other cases? I am outraged when men abuse women and children - and when the convenient targets are highly paid Black-American male athletes - an alarm goes off in my head for another type of outrage for white lynch-mob type behavior.

Oxford study predicts 15 more countries are at risk of Ebola exposure - The Washington Post
Complicity with spinning ebola story for profit of the newspaper and the university. If Ebola was that likely to move about quickly and to 15 more countries - this story would not be running would it? Ebola would already be a common disease in all these countries - and it is not. Why does it break out from time to time? No one knows and this "Oxford Model" does not tell us that. All you need to do the Oxford study is a map of where the two species of fruit bats live - and guess what? They are not limited to Africa. Something else is at play that triggers an outbreak and it is not greed for covering disasters!

"The epidemic is now so vast and so extensive that one should consider that in the three (hardest-hit) countries, everybody is now at risk and it won't be over until the last case has survived and six weeks have passed," said Piot, who runs London's School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
